Who is behind GoCappadocia?

GoCappadocia is a brand name. The company behind it is Kapadokya Bilişim Ticaret Ltd. Şti., and the company it belongs to is Kapadokya Organizasyonları Turizm A.Ş. The main ingredient in how the platform came about, though, is the hoteliers themselves: according to GoCappadocia, it was brought to life by the combined efforts of 175 hoteliers in the region.

We describe it as a joint venture set up in a cooperative spirit: many businesses coming together under one roof to do a shared job. Its legal form is not a cooperative; the platform is run by a limited company that is a subsidiary of a joint-stock company. We want to keep that distinction clear, because the word “cooperative” implies a specific legal status.

The aim GoCappadocia states is to bring the businesses that serve Cappadocia tourism together under one digital roof. The platform says that every booking supports regional tourism and contributes to sustainable development.

Keep the numbers apart: 175 is the number of hoteliers whose combined efforts brought the platform to life. The 80 below is the number of hotel pages in our own catalogue that are live on GoCappadocia. The two do not measure the same thing.

A booking runs like this: you open the hotel page in the guide, the Book button takes you to the hotel’s page on GoCappadocia, and you choose the dates, room type and price there. The visitor connects directly with a hotel in the region; no extra intermediary is added.

Which hotels are on GoCappadocia?

Our catalogue is built from 80 hotel pages on GoCappadocia. Göreme alone accounts for more than half of the catalogue (43 hotels). The records split by town and category as follows:

Why it matters that commission stays in the region

This section is our own reasoning, not a calculation or figure published by GoCappadocia. For that reason we give no rates.

When accommodation is sold through an intermediary site, part of the room price goes to the intermediary as commission. Intermediaries are usually based outside the region, so the commission leaves the region too. When a booking comes through a regional platform, the visitor pays no intermediary commission, and that share does not leave.

It is a general fact that hotel income is spent on staff, maintenance, breakfast supplies and local suppliers. The longer income stays in the region, the longer that chain of spending keeps turning there. GoCappadocia’s phrase that every booking supports regional tourism can be read in that light.

Two limits apply. Having no commission does not mean the price falls by itself; the commitment on price is GoCappadocia’s best-price guarantee. And we have no information on how the platform covers its own running costs, so this article makes no claim about that.

The role of these guide sites

goremesuites.com, goremehotels.com and urguphotels.com are three independent guides that list Cappadocia hotels. The catalogue holds 80 hotels: 43 in Göreme, 19 in Uçhisar, 9 in Ürgüp, 4 in Mustafapaşa, 3 in Çavuşin and 2 in Ortahisar. The guides are not GoCappadocia’s official pages and take no commission; their purpose is to support this joint venture by sending visitors to a hotel’s page on GoCappadocia.

This page belongs to goremesuites.com, which focuses on suites, apartments and family rooms in Göreme, Uçhisar and Ürgüp. Because the catalogue is shared across the three sites, you can reach the same hotels from any of the three guides.

Where the button goes follows a simple rule: if the hotel is live on GoCappadocia, it opens the hotel page there; if not, it opens the hotel’s own website. We do not take bookings ourselves.

Three points that are easy to mix up

• A joint venture is not a cooperative. We are talking about a joint venture set up in a cooperative spirit; the legal form is a limited company and the joint-stock company it belongs to.
• No commission does not mean a fixed price. The price commitment is the best-price guarantee; its scope should be checked with GoCappadocia.
