Of the 80 hotels in our catalogue, 66 tick breakfast included, so for most Cappadocia stays the first meal of the day is part of the room and comes as a Turkish breakfast: cheeses, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers, eggs, bread, honey and jam, and tea. This guide counts who ticks it by town, names the 14 that do not, lists the six records that state serving hours and the ones that describe the setting, and says what to ask if you fly in a balloon before breakfast. It gives no prices and no menus, because the records hold neither.

Who ticks breakfast included

Town Hotels Breakfast included Of those, balloon view ticked
Göreme 43 36 21
Uçhisar 19 15 7
Ürgüp 9 7 0
Mustafapaşa 4 3 0
Çavuşin 3 3 3
Ortahisar 2 2 0
Total 80 66 31

By category it is 45 of the 54 cave hotels, 17 of the 22 small hotels, and all of the two suite hotels, the one luxury hotel and the one pension. Every hotel in Çavuşin and Ortahisar ticks it. The tick is the hotel’s own listing, so treat the rate on the booking page as the final word.

The 14 that do not tick it

  • Göreme (7): Caftan Cave Suites, Divan Cave House, Heybe Hotel & Spa, Naif Hotel, Panoramic Cave Hotel, Tekkaya Cave Hotel and Tulip Cave Suites.
  • Uçhisar (4): Breeze Of Cappadocia, Dream of Cappadocia, Karlık Evi Cappadocia and Mimi Cappadocia Luxury Cave Hotel.
  • Ürgüp (2): 4 Oda Cave House and Eka Cave Maison.
  • Mustafapaşa (1): Yılkı Cave Suites.

Heybe lists breakfast as a paid extra. Five of the others still describe one in their text, so a missing tick is not the same as no breakfast: Divan names an open buffet from 8:00 to 10:30, Panoramic a buffet, Yılkı an open buffet, Dream an à la carte, continental or halal breakfast and Caftan simply breakfast. Whether it is included is a question for the rate.

What a Turkish breakfast usually holds

The records name no menu, so this is general knowledge, and what a hotel serves varies:

  • white cheese and sometimes other cheeses;
  • black and green olives;
  • sliced tomatoes and cucumbers;
  • boiled or fried eggs, and often menemen, eggs cooked with tomatoes and peppers;
  • fresh bread, butter, honey and jam, sometimes clotted cream (kaymak);
  • sausage (sucuk), pastries or simit at some tables;
  • tea served in small glasses.

What the records do say is the format: buffet (Bedrock Cave Hotel, Sultan Cave Suites, Amber Cave Suites, Göreme Inn and others), a full breakfast (My Story Cave Hotel), homemade (Local Cave House), local and homemade dishes (Taşkonak Cave House), a daily Turkish breakfast with local ingredients (Arcus Cappadocia), local style (Aja Cappadocia Hotel and Ürgüp Evi) and a light buffet or deli (Serene Premium Stone House). For the rest of the region’s food, see what to eat in Cappadocia.

When it is served

Six records give hours, and all six finish by 11:00:

Hotel Town Hours in the record
Divan Cave House Göreme 8:00–10:30, open buffet (not ticked as included)
Seki Cave Hotel Çavuşin 8:00–10:30, free buffet
Vita Cave Suites Ortahisar 8:30–10:30, buffet
Taşkonak Cave House Göreme 8:30–10:30, local and homemade dishes
The Calypso Cave Ürgüp 8:30–11:00
Ürgüp Evi Ürgüp 9:00–11:00, local style

Ürgüp Evi’s record points out that its window leaves an hour before the 12:00 check-out. The other 74 records give no hours, so ask.

Breakfast and the balloon morning

A balloon flight starts with a pick-up before dawn, so breakfast comes after you land, or never fits at all if you fly. The balloon ride guide explains how the morning runs. Ask your hotel two things: whether breakfast can be served earlier or later than its stated hours, and whether a packed breakfast is possible. 26 hotels list a wake-up service. Flights are decided each morning and balloons flew on 340 of the 579 recorded days (59%, 1 January 2025 – 2 August 2026), so also ask what happens to a booked early breakfast if the flight is cancelled; see when balloons fly.

Breakfast with a balloon view

31 hotels tick both breakfast included and a balloon view, but a tick does not place the tables. Three records describe the setting: Atax Cave House in Çavuşin serves breakfast on the terrace and ticks a balloon view; The Niche Cave Hotel serves it in a first-floor restaurant overlooking Göreme and the fairy chimneys; and Heybe Hotel & Spa says balloons can be seen at breakfast, though breakfast there is a paid extra. For a view without flying, see hotels with balloon-view terraces.

What to check before you book

  • Is breakfast in the rate? The tick and the rate can differ; read the rate details.
  • Hours and place. Ask when it ends and whether it is served on the terrace in the season you travel.
  • Diets. Say halal, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or allergy needs when you book; only Dream mentions a diet option.
  • Early starts. Ask about earlier or packed breakfasts before an early departure or flight.
  • Cold mornings. A terrace breakfast in January means a January morning: the Nevşehir average low is −3.6 °C (MGM).

The 12-point checklist puts breakfast among the other things to settle before booking.

Where to stay

For breakfast in particular, Sultan Cave Suites, pictured at the top, has 30 rooms and a free buffet breakfast daily, with a restaurant, a spa and an airport transfer. The Niche Cave Hotel has 17 rock-carved rooms and a first-floor breakfast restaurant over the fairy chimneys. Atax Cave House in Çavuşin serves breakfast on the terrace. Taşkonak Cave House lists local and homemade dishes from 8:30 to 10:30. After choosing, you can book through gocappadocia.com, the regional booking platform created through the combined efforts of 175 Cappadocia hoteliers, with a best-price guarantee; this guide takes no commission.

Questions answered in this article

Is breakfast included at Cappadocia hotels?

66 of the 80 records tick breakfast included and one, Heybe Hotel & Spa, lists it as a paid extra. 13 do not tick it, and 5 of those still mention a breakfast: Caftan Cave Suites, Divan Cave House, Dream of Cappadocia, Panoramic Cave Hotel and Yılkı Cave Suites. Check the rate details.

What is in a Turkish breakfast?

Typically cheeses, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers, eggs, bread, honey and jam, with tea in small glasses; extras vary by hotel. The records do not list menus, so ask what your hotel serves.

What time is breakfast served?

Six records give hours: from 8:00, 8:30 or 9:00, ending at 10:30 or 11:00. If you fly with a balloon, ask whether breakfast can be served earlier or packed.

Can I have breakfast with a view of the balloons?

Many can: 31 hotels tick both breakfast included and a balloon view. A tick does not say the dining area has the view; records that do are Atax Cave House (breakfast on the terrace) and The Niche Cave Hotel (a first-floor breakfast restaurant overlooking Göreme and the fairy chimneys).

Are there halal or vegetarian breakfasts?

Dream of Cappadocia lists a halal option next to à la carte and continental ones. No other record mentions halal, vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free choices, so ask. Many items on a Turkish spread are vegetarian; sausage and similar items are not.
