June is the most dependable month for balloons that we can measure twice: they flew on 25 of 30 days in June 2025 and on 25 of 30 in June 2026, 83% both times, and in both years on every one of the first 12 days of the month. The weather is warm without the heat of July: the Nevşehir average high is 24.9 °C, the average low 11.7 °C and there are 10.6 hours of sun a day. This guide sets the weather, the flight record and the catalogue side by side, and it asks what to check with a hotel before a summer stay. It has no prices or opening hours.

MGM averages for 1959–2025, Nevşehir. June is the bridge between spring and summer: its average high is 3.6 degrees below July’s and it still has 8.1 rainy days, where July has about two. The gap between day and night is 13.2 °C, so mornings and evenings feel cool next to the afternoon, and a thin layer is useful at both ends of the day. The highest June reading on record, 35.0 °C, shows that a hot day is possible even if the average is mild.

Balloons in June 2025 and 2026

Year Flown Cancelled Share Days without flights
June 2025 25 5 83% 14, 18, 22, 29–30
June 2026 25 5 83% 13–14, 20, 22, 28

The two Junes match to the day count. In 2025 balloons flew 13 days in a row, from 1 to 13 June, part of a 16-day run that began on 29 May and is the longest in the record. In 2026 the run was 12 days, from 1 to 12 June, part of a 14-day run that began on 30 May. The longest gap in either June was 2 days, 29 to 30 June 2025 and 13 to 14 June 2026.

Counting only windows of consecutive mornings that sit wholly inside June, in both years:

Mornings 2 3 4 5
Windows with at least one flight 97% 100% 100% 100%

Only 2 of the 58 two-morning windows had no flight, and none of the three-morning windows. Two nights is a reasonable minimum in June, a third night adds insurance, and the first morning is still the one to book, since a cancellation then leaves spare mornings. Two Junes cannot promise a third, and the decision is made on the day, on wind and visibility. The month-by-month table is in balloon flight days.

Early starts and evenings on the terrace

The balloon morning is an early one, and 26 of the 80 records list a wake-up service. Dawn is cool, with an average low of 11.7 °C, so bring a light jacket for the launch field. In the evening, a terrace is what many people want from a June stay: 38 records tick a balloon view (27 in Göreme, 8 in Uçhisar, 3 in Çavuşin) and 10 tick a terrace; the guide to watching balloons without flying lists them by town. On a shared terrace, keep your voice down and leave room for others.

Walking, heat and pools

Daytime highs near 25 °C and 10.6 hours of sun make June a good month for walking, but the midday sun is strong and shade is scarce in most valleys, so start early or go late, carry water and wear a hat; the hiking overview compares the valleys for shade and difficulty. Air conditioning is ticked for 48 of the 80 records: 35 in Göreme, 7 in Uçhisar, 3 in Ürgüp, 2 in Çavuşin and 1 in Ortahisar. In June it matters less than in July and August, but a hot spell can happen, so ask if it matters to you. For pools, 15 records mention one and 7 describe it as seasonal, so confirm the pool is open on your dates.

A June day, in order

A cool pick-up in the dark if you fly, breakfast on the terrace, valley walks before the sun climbs, a long middle of the day indoors or by a pool (where it is open), and a second walk or a sunset in the late afternoon. With 10.6 hours of sun on average, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat belong in the bag from the first day, and water in your hand wherever you walk.

June or July?

If you can choose, the record gives June a small edge for balloons: its 83% in both years compares with 74% in July 2025 and 81% in July 2026. The sunshine is similar, 10.6 hours a day against 11.9, but the afternoons are cooler, with an average high of 24.9 °C against 28.5 °C, and the highest reading ever recorded is 35.0 °C in June against 39.5 °C in July. June also still has some rain, 8.1 days against about two, so a light rain layer is not wasted. July is the drier and hotter month; July goes into that in detail.
