Cappadocia in November: 11.8 °C days, 53% flights and short gaps

November is the month the Cappadocian year tips from autumn into winter: the average high is 11.8 °C, the average low 2.5 °C, and there are 4.6 hours of sun a day and 8.5 rainy days. Balloons flew on 16 of 30 days in November 2025 (53%), with no gap longer than 3 days. One caution comes first: the flight record ends on 2 August 2026, so we hold a single November and cannot compare it with a second one. This guide sets the weather, that one November and the catalogue’s heating, restaurant and hamam counts side by side. It has no prices, opening hours or visitor numbers.

MGM averages for 1959–2025, Nevşehir, so Göreme or Uçhisar can differ locally. From October, November loses 6.5 °C on the average high, 4.3 °C on the average low and 1.9 hours of sun, and gains 1.5 rainy days and 6.3 mm of rain. The average low of 2.5 °C is still above zero, but the record low of −14.0 °C shows how far a cold night can go, and the narrow 9.3 °C gap means the afternoon does not make up for the morning.

The pattern is short runs of flying days and short runs of cancelled ones. The longest run of flying days was 4, from 17 to 20 November, and the longest gap was 3 days, from 14 to 16 November; that is shorter than the 4-day gaps in September and October. The first 15 days flew on 8 days and the last 15 on 8 days.

Of 29 two-morning windows, 7 had no flight; of 28 three-morning windows, only 1 had none. At 96%, November’s three-morning figure is higher than September’s 93% or October’s 90%, even though its monthly share is lower: when mornings are lost in short runs, a few nights cover you. What we cannot say: fog and crowds

The 47% of days without flights tells you that balloons did not fly, not why, and the file holds no fog, visibility or wind data. It holds no visitor numbers or occupancy either, so we cannot say whether November is quiet. If a quiet month matters to you, ask your hotel how full it expects to be on your dates, and treat our balloon share as a flight record, not a crowd count.

Heating questions for a cold month

A November evening is cold enough that heating is worth a question. Ten of the 80 records state heating, as heated floors, fireplaces or heated rooms: 3 in Göreme, 2 each in Ürgüp and Çavuşin, and 1 each in Uçhisar, Ortahisar and Mustafapaşa; the split by type is in Cappadocia in winter. The other 70 do not say. Ask whether the room is heated when you arrive, how the heating is controlled, and whether the terrace and the breakfast room are heated too.

Wet days and warm rooms

With 4.6 hours of sun and 8.5 rainy days, more of a November day happens indoors. 29 records tick a restaurant (16 in Göreme, 7 in Uçhisar, 4 in Ürgüp and 2 in Mustafapaşa) and 24 tick room service (13, 6, 3 and 2). December takes the average high from 11.8 to 6.2 °C and the average low from 2.5 to −1.3 °C, cuts the sun from 4.6 to 3.1 hours and lifts the rainy days from 8.5 to 12.3. The balloon record shows the same step: 58% in October 2025, 53% in November 2025 and 29% in December 2025. The drop from November to December, 24 points, is far bigger than the 5 points from October to November, but each is a single year. If you can choose, November is the milder month; December covers the colder one.
